After the algorithm update, what Facebook content performs best?
Emma Fitzpatrick MarketingEarlier this year, a small survey found for the first time the number of Americans using Facebook fell. Facebook’s Q2 earnings report confirmed that wasn’t a blip on the radar. It may be the new normal. The number of Canadians and Americans logging onto Facebook each month plateaued and remained at 241 million monthly users for all of 2018. In Europe, Facebook actually lost one million users. Ouch. Mashaal Ryan MarketingOn July 12, Build-a-Bear Workshop tried out a marketing promotion called "Pay Your Age Day." It was such a hit it failed. People were waiting up to six hours in the U.S. and eight in the U.K. for this deal, which became such a huge event that the stock of items sold out. The company, in an unprecedented step, actually shut down their stores across both countries. How can your company have a wildly successful promotion that doesn’t also fail spectacularly?

How to not get burnt by Yelp
Jarod Carter MarketingThis article explains some simple steps to make sure you don’t get burnt by Yelp’s algorithm the way my practice’s Yelp page did. When you put your business page up on Yelp, you expect you might be contacted about purchasing advertising. However, most business owners are not expecting that declining or discontinuing those ad offers may severely hurt their business’ ability to show real, positive reviews on Yelp’s platform.

Linchi Kwok Travel, Hospitality & Event ManagementThis year, a new record of 46.9 million Americans were predicted to travel 50 miles or farther from home during the July 4th holiday, the highest number since AAA began tracking the statistics in 2000. When more Americans are on the road, more patrons can be expected in hotels and restaurants. For the restaurant industry, then, is the record-breaking number of travelers during the July 4th holiday a good indication of a prosperous second half of 2018?
