Gavin Newsom recently signed Senate Bill 206, the Fair Pay to Play Act, into law. The legislation will let student-athletes earn money from endorsements and hire sports agents, effective Jan. 1, 2023. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), a nonprofit membership group, had barred that compensation option. The NCAA's exploitative business model propelled the Fair Pay to Play Act, according to Gov. Newsom.

It is generally more common in males than females. There has been a huge misconception over the years about the cause of this lateral knee pain condition. I recently listened to a great little podcast on IT band syndrome from BMJ Talk Medicine, entitled "Mythbusting iliotibial band pain with Dr Rich Willy – it’s not friction." I’d definitely recommend giving it a listen yourself, as there are so many great points to take away.

In today’s world, our desire for comfort often overrules our body’s need for fresh air, sunshine and exposure to the natural elements.

Moving our bodies helps our mood. It’s akin to taking an internal shower. Getting the blood moving flushes out our systems and brings oxygen to our muscles and organs, providing us with detoxifying benefits and endorphins. This connection between exercise and mood is especially important given that approximately 17% of people in the U.S. will suffer at least one major depressive episode during their lifetime.

The Yoga Alliance reports that Americans spend $16 billion on yoga classes, clothing, equipment and accessories each year. As with any type of fitness program, injuries are possible. In fact, some people should avoid yoga altogether, or at the very least, be careful about which postures they do.
