The future of hunting is in our hands
John McAdams Recreation & LeisureAs hunters and conservationists, we have a responsibility to protect and preserve the hunting opportunities available to us for future generations to enjoy. While protecting habitat and game populations are important, there is more to protecting our hunting opportunities than just those things. Considering the nature of the hunting scandals that have erupted over the past few years, it is absolutely essential that we ensure hunting remains a legal and socially acceptable pursuit.

Top 10 U.S. Halloween celebrations
Dave G. Houser Recreation & LeisureMore than just trick-or-treat, Halloween is a huge happening across the U.S. Thousands of celebrations are staged across the country to mark this annual end-of-October observance. More than two-thirds of Americans are said to partake in Halloween activities, spending almost $7 billion annually on candy, costumes and decorations. That makes it second only to Mother's Day as the nation's largest commercial holiday.

Parks offering health benefits that span generations
Bob Kowalski Facilities & GroundsChildhood obesity is a cause that has attracted concern all the way to the White House. Senior mobility has been proven to improve overall health, especially mental health. And studies have shown that being active in middle age pays health dividends later in life. If only there were a way to provide health benefits to all three age groups at the same time.

Autumn’s chill signals the RV winter migration
Steve and Diane Owens Recreation & LeisureI'm writing this today on the first day of autumn — our favorite season of the year. The night breeze is cool, allowing windows to be open and sleep to come easy. The days are getting shorter here in South Dakota, and it's dark when I arise. In the early morning hours, a blanket is necessary and snuggling is wanting.

7 tips for not sabotaging your recent facial
Elizabeth Donat Recreation & LeisureAs a licensed esthetician, I always end my sessions with home-care and post-care recommendations. I am sure my clients think I am a broken record, but I just can't help myself. The truth is what happens after your facial is just as important as what happens during your facial. Slow in practice means fast in combat
Mike Ox Law Enforcement, Defense & SecuritySometimes the most effective way to shoot faster and more accurately is to is to take one step back, slow down and change your approach. Personally, I don't like slowing down. It's not in my nature. I want to shoot faster without compromising accuracy by simply moving faster.

How great are your estheticians?
Elizabeth Donat Recreation & LeisureProbably pretty great, right? Most estheticians (aka esties) get into the field of esthetics, because they have a strong interest in the beauty and skin health industries and a desire to turn that interest into a great way to make a living. Esties generally enjoy helping their clients look and feel great, while also improving their own skin health and beauty (let's be honest).

6 American battlefield re-enactments to check out in 2017
Dave G. Houser Recreation & LeisurePeering through a cloud of acrid smoke at a wave of musket-firing soldiers and cringing from volley after volley of ear-pounding pyrotechnics, I was beginning to feel like a front-line war reporter. But thankfully what I was witnessing wasn't for real. The furious action taking place just yards away was part of an amazingly authentic replay of Florida's largest Civil War battle.
