Tuesday, October 24, 2017A year has passed since I re-entered the shooting world after my law enforcement career-ending hand injury. I struggled through my first USPSA competitions trying to find my new normal. Nearly a year later, I can tell you that not much has changed except for my attitude. My hand still hurts and shooting is still difficult, but I look forward to shooting every weekend.

Instead of dreading the matches when my husband invites me, I am now filled with gusto and enthusiasm. So many people have been encouraging and praising my efforts that my goal to focus on my shooting skills has become concrete, and I have fallen in love with the shooting community.

Tuesday, October 11, 2016My life-long dream was to serve as a police officer, just as my parents, uncles and brother had done before me. My mother was the first female chief of police in New Mexico and the first Hispanic female chief of police in the United States. She instilled in me a great longing to serve and protect.
