The most important RV list: The departure checklist
Cindy Belt Recreation & LeisureThere are plenty of lists online on what to take when RVing. I find a list for leaving a campsite even more important. If you are new to RVing, this is a critical step. Even for the experienced RVer, it is helpful for those mornings when you leave when you are still groggy, under pressure to clear the site quickly, interrupted in your routine by something, or if it has been awhile since you left a campsite after a long stay. Everyone’s list is different. Here are some suggestions.

What to know about protecting yourself in the outdoors
John McAdams Recreation & LeisureWhile the vast majority of sportsmen will never need to protect themselves from a predator of any sort while afield, this is an area where it’s especially important to heed the Boy Scout motto and prepare for the worst. After all, while it’s extremely unlikely that you’ll ever need to use a weapon in self-defense, you’ll be really glad you were appropriately prepared if that time ever comes.

Dig this: Get in the garden for a long, healthy life
Bob Kowalski Recreation & LeisureGetting to work in the garden can bring homegrown nutrition, but it also can improve your physical fitness and maybe extend your life. In this era of work-from-home and Zoom meetings, a garden provides a hobby that will get you up and moving, and give you a place to take a break from the keyboard. Linchi Kwok Travel, Hospitality & Event ManagementNew COVID-19 cases are finally showing signs of decline across the U.S., but we should still take cautionary measures to avoid another wave of infections. Because the virus is primarily transmitted through direct or indirect close contact with infected people via mouth or nose secretions, social distancing and frequent sanitation are highly recommended. It is not surprising to see consumers demand services with minimal human contact, leading to more contactless self-services.

Here are some other parks that are well worth a stop while visiting the state. These lesser-known spots should give you more room for hiking and sightseeing safely than some of the bigger parks.

3 classic books for outdoorsmen
John McAdams Recreation & LeisureAs Robert Ruark once wrote: "The old man used to say that the best part of hunting and fishing was the thinking about going and the talking about it after you got back." I certainly see where both Ruark and the old man were coming from on that point. It’s also tough to go wrong with a good book about hunting or fishing. Fortunately, some of America’s greatest literary icons have produced some outstanding works on the subject over the years. Here are a few of my favorites.
