  • How can we make sustainable design an unconscious effort?

Susan Mulholland Interior Design, Furnishings & Fixtures

Sustainability is a word that is used a lot these days. Our built environment is constantly being evaluated for how sustainable it is. Architects and interior designers who are regularly practicing the principles of sustainability will tell you it isn't about the placard on the wall, the number of LEED points they can get or how many LEED platinum buildings they design. • Where is the talk about public education?

    Bambi Majumdar Education

When election time rolls around, candidates spar over a wide range of issues. However, it is rather strange to see the absence of heated discussion about public education in this year's presidential race. As Joel Gagne put it in his recent article for The Huffington Post, public education seems to have taken a back seat in this election. • Business buzzwords: Par 4 with a dogleg to the left

Paul Zukowski Business Management, Services & Risk Management

When I began this article on business buzzwords that come from golf, I thought I'd get a lot of examples using "par." It's such a cool word. Golfers would never say one hole was on a par with another — they'd say they had the same par. And so on.

    Mark Huber Healthcare Administration

Many would argue that the helicopter air ambulance industry in the U.S. as currently constructed is economically irrational and unsustainable. Too many helicopters, flying too few hours, charging patients whatever they like and a political backlash not far in the distance. The question is, what can we do about it?

Lynn Hetzler Medical & Allied Healthcare

The number of pediatric concussions may be substantially greater than what is reported in the United States, according to a recent study in JAMA Pediatrics. • Research: More access to treatment for opioid use is needed

    Dr. Abimbola Farinde Pharmaceutical

The prevalence of opioid misuse has increased substantially, which can be largely attributed to the increased prescribing of opioids in the United States. Opioid use disorder is recognized as a chronic and relapsing illness that can be associated with increased morbidity and mortality if not identified and treated.

According to Vetinfo, "allergies may affect up to half of American dogs," and research show cats are similarly affected.
