We use our recreational vehicle as often as we can. How else can we justify the expense of owning one? Though RVs range from tow-behind fifth wheels and travel trailers to drivable Class A's, B's and C's, they can also include tear-drops, truck campers and pop-ups.

Choosing the type of RV that fits your needs often depends on what you really want to use it for and how often you intend to use it. For those who plan to use it often and with a family or group of people, the largest size you can afford is the way to go. That way, you have enough space and amenities to fit your needs.

Like traditional homes, RVs can be financed for up to 20 years — often a longer period than you plan to keep that particular RV. RVs also come with a varying degree of built-in amenities that fit your lifestyle. Bunk beds for kids, queen-size pull-out couches, fold-down banquettes and king-sized beds offer ample room for sleeping. Double sofas, European recliners, U-shaped banquettes and various outdoor camping chairs offer plenty of seating options.

Our RV of choice happens to be a Class A motorcoach. The convenience of having everything we need within easy reach, as well as being able to access the bathroom and refrigerator while "on the road" is desirable to us. Once parked, the extra-long patio awning offers us shade from the scorching sun, as well as protecting us from other elements such as falling tree debris or gentle rain. The expanding slide-outs increase the interior size dramatically, allowing ample room for movement within the coach, as well as space to stretch out.

Although our motorcoach is a comfortable and desirable camping option, we enjoy using it on day trips and short excursions, as well.

"Tailgating" at college football games is a popular activity for owners of RVs. Driving to the stadium early offers a comfortable means of travel for the driver as well as the passengers. As many people as we choose to transport can enjoy this activity with us. Socializing with fellow RVers who also enjoy "tailgating" is a fun experience, building camaraderie and friendships.

Once parked, the awning can be pulled out; outdoor lawn chairs can be assembled; the grill can get fired up for barbecuing the food you packed in the RV's refrigerator; refreshing beverages can be sipped. The outdoor patio entertainment center can be programmed so we can enjoy the pregame show. Our own personal, clean restroom facilities are readily available for the comfort of all.

Those who are fortunate to have tickets to the game can conveniently walk to the stadium from where we are parked. For those who don't, they can enjoy watching it on their choice of televisions. If the weather is undesirable, we can simply stay inside the RV and watch the TV inside the living area of the RV, as well as the one in the bedroom.

"Tailgating" in an RV also allows us the option of enjoying an evening meal before packing up and heading for home. We can then leave the stadium parking area at a leisurely pace, avoiding the rush and ensuing traffic jams.

Taking our RV to the beach for the day is another way we like to use it. We can eat healthy snacks, stay hydrated by drinking ice water and prepare tasty meals without having to lug a heavy cooler. We can rinse off, cool off and change into clean clothes when we need to. We can rest inside if we're worn out and find shelter if the weather changes. When we're ready to get out of the sun and sand for a while, we simply go inside without having to actually leave the beach — that way, we can stay and watch the sunset, too.

Other events in which we have enjoyed using our RV are at the county fair, at day-long baseball tournaments, at flea markets, during fishing trips along the river, at marching band and dance team competitions, and at craft shows. We've also taken our RV to family reunions, festivals, casinos, theme parks and the zoo.

RVing is enjoyable for our entire family, keeps our family comfortable and makes us who we are — RVers!
