If you have never gone to an RV show, you don't know what you're missing.

RV shows offer a one-stop shop where you can compare styles and brands of RVs, pick up wonderful products to make RV life more comfortable, watch demonstrations to teach you about RV items, find a myriad of repair services to fix things up in your RV, and give you numerous choices of RV parks in which to spend your travels.

Here is a look at five reasons you should attend an RV show:

1. New RVs

Whether you are just looking or are more serious about finding your ideal RV, an RV show gives you the opportunity to make the best decision for yourself. Multiple dealers showcase their RVs and are available for answering questions, presenting various RVs for your viewing pleasure, and of course, offering "special show pricing."

Where else can you find towables like fifth wheels and trailers; class A, B, B-plus and C motorhomes; teardrops, hi-lows, destination trailers, and park models all on display and all within one walkable location?

2. Products

We have seen all of the following products for sale.

  • Necessities: waterless cleaning products, drinking water hoses, sewer hoses and even toilet paper.
  • Accessories: windshield covers, patio mats, door mats and whimsical patio lights.
  • Kitchen items: dishes, drinking glasses/cups/acrylic stemware, cookware and knives.
  • Decorative: name signs, paintings and doo-dads.
  • Technology: satellite systems and smartphones.
  • Miscellaneous: clothing, shoes, hats, jewelry and purses.

You name it. Anything and everything you need and want as far as RV products is available for purchase.

3. Repairs

Let's face it. Just like stationary homes, RVs need repairs at times. Several booths advertise and suggest repairs or replacements for day/night shades, windows and roofs. Some even show photos of the complete overhauls of RVs including flooring, cabinetry, upholstery and full body paint.

Business cards are also available advertising mobile RV repair businesses and extended warranty insurance to cover some of these needed repairs.

4. Demonstrations

Competent personnel give demonstrations on how to use cookware and prepare delicious meals; shoe insoles and comfortable back pillows to help relieve your aches and pains; cleaning and shining items to make your RV sparkle; and safety gadgets.

5. Destinations

Most of the booths at the RV show advertise their wonderful RV parks throughout our country. Many even give discounted offers to stay at their parks.

A few years ago, when we were planning a trip to Alaska, we visited a booth at the Fort Myers RV Show in Florida advertising a halibut fishing/camping excursion in Ninilchik, Alaska. We actually stayed at this RV park when we journeyed there six months later. Had it not been for the RV Show, we would not have gone to that particular place.

By learning about the various RV Parks, and taking advantage of the discounted fees offered through the RV show, you can visit different destinations through your RV travels. Who knows, you may even find your home away from home, a place you want to spend a season at, or an area you want to explore further like we did.

Attending an RV show is definitely worth your time. If you're going to be an RVer, you may as well learn about all things RVing has to offer. What better place to do that than at an informative, educational, enjoyable RV show?
