If you want to spice up your nightlife further, it's time to explore some new apps. Yes, not to be left behind, this area of the entertainment business has gone digital and is evolving every day.

A look at the latest nightlife apps shows how fast our notion of connecting and socializing is changing, along with the way the businesses themselves. New Yorkers are of course leading the way with some hip apps promising to make nightlife in Big Apple more happening than ever.

Notable among these are apps like Flux, an entertainment concierge that allows users access to the exclusive nightclubs and popular bars in the city, no-hassle entry to the newest lounges and even to sold-out shows. Then there is Rekky, which is a cool venue-recommendation app for those with more discerning taste. NYC culture influencers and icons like Danielle and Laura Kosann, Camille Becerra and Harley Viera-Newton among others have curated personalized lists of the top venues.

There is also Inlist, a members-only global app that offers VIP treatment for members at the hottest events and venues across the world. Once you book a table, the in-app concierge ensures your smooth entry at any of these venues easily.

Garnering plenty of attention lately is a new nightlife app called Tipsy. One can register for just $15 a month and get a host of perks and free drinks across multiple bars and clubs.

Developed by a group of Arizona State University alumni, it has started out of the home base of Arizona, specifically Tempe, Scottsdale and Phoenix. However, the creators of the app are hard at work to expand their operations to San Diego, New York and other cities soon, including international locations. Users can get vouchers for a VIP experience at all the member spots, which includes bars, pubs, nightclubs and theaters, as well as local bar and grills.

One can get into any of these right away without having to wait in line, get vouchers for a free drink and not pay cover charges either. There are also the special members-only events at the various bars and clubs, which is icing on the cake. Within a year of launching, Tipsy has attracted more than 1,500 users and has close to 800 vouchers redeemed.

It's not just users but also businesses that have welcomed the app. They look at it as an innovative opportunity to build strong relationships with their customers and expand the customer base as well. The app is designed on a mutually beneficial system, socially and financially, that will make it a win-win for all.

The immense potential of these apps have attracted business owners in the entertainment and hospitality industries big time. As a result, new mergers and partnerships are making news every day.

One creating similar headlines is the partnership between nightlife app Discotech and the online ticketing provider Wantickets. This will allow users their smartphones to purchase tickets directly from the app. Discotech serves as a one-stop "virtual concierge" for events, tickets, restaurant bookings and even allows guests to RSVP via the app. Wantickets is a North American ticket provider for nightlife and dance music spaces, boasting more than 1 million visitors per month.

Clearly, linear success is not enough when social lives are quickly evolving and imbibing the emerging technologies fast. This partnership shows businesses are not only looking at uniting different kinds of services under one umbrella but also looking for convergence of technologies.

These apps will allow them to reach out to a greater cross-section of users, by their interests as well as the multiple devices used, leading to faster profit realization.
