How to use Facebook to hire your next great employee

Last fall, Facebook introduced Facebook at Work, which allows companies to create their own employee-centric social network. There, employees can scroll through co-workers’ updates, send messages, get relevant project notifications, join groups and even create events.
In essence, it’s an employee collaboration, communication and engagement tool that all your employees already know how to use.
Now that Facebook has dipped its toes into the world of employee communications, the company is taking it one step further — recruiting. You can now list and promote open job opportunities directly on Facebook. Interested job seekers also apply right on Facebook in a few simple clicks. From there, you can review, track and communicate with applicants all on Facebook, too.
"This was a real opportunity sitting in front of us," Andrew Bosworth, Facebook's vice president of ads and business platform, told Forbes in an interview.
And it’s an opportunity for you and your company, too. Facebook’s Jobs page makes it easy to dabble in social recruiting, which is increasingly powerful.

How to Post and Hire Your Next Employee on Facebook
- If you don’t already have one, create a business page on Facebook.
- Go to your business Facebook page, and click on "Jobs" in the menu on the left. Then, hit "Get Started."
- Create the job posting in under five minutes by adding the:
- Introduction, which functions like your status update and can be up to 90 characters.
- Photo for the post, or you can use your cover photo as a default.
- Job title and job location.
- Salary, which is optional. You can list this as a per hour, day, week, month or yearly rate.
- Job type, which ranges from volunteer, part-time or full-time to internships and contract positions.
- Job description. You have 5,000 characters to describe the job tasks and requirements,
- Hit "Publish a Job Post," and users will see this in their desktop and mobile news feed. If you’d like, you can boost or sponsor your job posting. Or applicants can find it by searching on Facebook.com/Jobs.
- From there, users hit "Apply Now" on your position. When applying, the application auto-fills, covering basic information like the applicant’s name, contact info and location. It also populates past work experience or education, if users have that uploaded to their profile. There is one open-ended question, “Why do you think you’re a good candidate for this job?” Here, users introduce themselves and give an overview of relevant experience in 1,000 characters.
