Learning platforms enabled by computing technologies, such as online learning, mobile learning, and distance education, provide evidence of the influence of technology in the classroom. Like technology, language learning is always evolving, especially regarding the teaching of ESL/EFL. Since I am teaching ESL in a higher education setting, I will be exploring my vision of the future classroom through mobile apps in this article.

The benefits of using a motivational framework for culturally responsive ESL teaching

To support her study, the author explains how she has experimented and utilized a motivational framework in her classes while teaching English as a second language (ESL) to her students from diverse cultural backgrounds. The author highlights the four different aspects of a motivational framework: inclusion, attitude, meaning, and competence. She also highlights different strategies and activities that she has used in her own classes based on a motivational framework.

Exploring digital literacy through websites in the ESL classroom

Specifically, for ESL students, who are from different cultural backgrounds, communication becomes easy and convenient with digital literacy tools. To define digital literacy in terms of L2 learning, Meurant (2009) stated that digital literacy is "developing ability, confidence and readiness of non-native learners of English to use English as a second or foreign language to access, navigate, comprehend and contribute meaningfully to English language online resources and the online discourse of the online community."
