Len DeRamus
Len DeRamus is an Instructor of Emergency Medicine at the Augusta University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership and works in the simulation center. His primary role is as a Physician Assistant at the University of Georgia Health Center. Len holds an MPAS from the University of Nebraska and BSPA from the Medical College of Georgia (now known as Augusta University). Len is a former paramedic and EMS instructor and maintains certification as an ACLS, BLS, PALS instructor. He is an annual member of the Society of Simulation in Healthcare and American College Health Association.

Several factors, including training, skill, experience and practice, help mitigate this autonomic reaction in healthcare providers. How does one hone their skills, and gain experience and practice without placing actual patients at risk of harm? On Aug. 9, The University of Georgia Health Center practiced "Code Blue" drills. These drills were simulation-based and reviewed medical emergencies.
