March 29 marks National Vietnam War Veterans Day
Tuesday, March 19, 2019March 29 marks the second anniversary of the creation of National Vietnam War Veterans Day — a date that was officially signed into law by President Trump on March 28, 2017, by way of the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017. March 29 is significant to the Vietnam War, as it marks the date on which the last U.S. combat troops — including the POWs who were being held in North Vietnam — were withdrawn from the Southeast Asia Theater and returned to American soil in 1973. Officially, March 29, 1973, is the day the Military Assistance Command Vietnam was deactivated.

How military justice is being adjusted in 2019
Tuesday, January 08, 2019The Uniform Code of Military Justice has served as the governing body of laws for all branches of the military since it was enacted nearly 70 years ago. Over time, changes were made piecemeal as needed, but there hadn't been a holistic, overarching review of the existing laws that are on the books until recently. As of Jan. 1, a number of changes to the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) are in effect — the result of an effort to modernize and standardize definitions and penalties as they relate to accusations and convictions of service members.
