Glory Ressler

Glory Ressler has been working in early learning and care for over 25 years. She co-developed and managed a province-wide accredited mentoring training program in Ontario, Canada, and has consulted on collaborative leadership and system planning projects in various communities across Canada. Glory has presented sessions internationally and is a published author. As Director of Education, Training & Data at the Canadian Mothercraft Society, Glory oversees Mothercraft’s College of Early Childhood Education and Community Data Group. She is also the Canadian national representative to the World Forum on Early Care and Education and was named an "Exceptional Master Leader" by Child Care Exchange magazine.

Today's families have expectations of technology-rich communication with their children's educators, and today's students are increasingly adept at using technology to bolster their own efficiency and professionalism.   We all recognize the genuine joy of engaging with children in play; this is what motivated many of us to work in early care and education in the first place. Sadly, I have noticed that playfulness rarely makes an appearance in our adult interactions. This is understandable, given the high levels of engagement, professionalism and work ethic demonstrated in our field. We understand the importance and impact of what we do and, therefore, take our work seriously. However, I have personally witnessed the negative impacts of too much seriousness and not enough play.
