As we were talking about last week, Facebook has been struggling. After just recovering from the Cambridge Analytica scandal, Facebook announced another data breach. Plus, more businesses may pull ads because the ROI just isn’t what it used to be.

Now, we’re all on the hunt for new ways to reach our audience (beyond Facebook). Surprisingly, LinkedIn is proving itself to be a breath of fresh air.

Of course, LinkedIn isn’t a new platform. The company recently turned 15, but here’s what is unprecedented: LinkedIn’s levels of engagement.

Comments, likes, and shares in 2018 are up 60 percent compared to last year, according to a LinkedIn spokesperson. Plus, shares have quadrupled over the past two years, according to NewsWhip data.

LinkedIn is no longer just the place you go when you need a new hire. If your company focuses on B2B at all, it’s essential. 59 percent of marketers generate B2B leads on LinkedIn, compared to 26 percent on other social networks, according to 2018 LinkedIn data.

Part of this uptick is because of the network’s improved usability. They’ve been rolling out new update after new update for nearly two years straight.

With the barrage of new features, you may have missed the ones that will significantly help your company on LinkedIn.

LinkedIn's Best New Features in 2018

1. Better ads that generate more leads

LinkedIn has revamped its Campaign Manager with new ad options. Dynamic Ads allow you to personalize the ad copy using info from users’ profile, which may double your click-through rate. Carousal Ads that display up to 10 pictures are also now available.

Finally, LinkedIn also added bid-optimization, which LinkedIn says for 90 percent of users reduced their cost per lead.

2. Better messaging

Finally! You can share attachments in a message using LinkedIn’s app, solving a huge headache. Plus, it’ll now be easier to reply to with “Smart Replies,” which crafts personalized (but automated) responses. You can also add GIFs, emojis and images, which people really like.

People who used visuals were 1.59 times more likely to say they had “great conversations” compared to those who used text exclusively, according to Facebook data.

3. Better videos

Did you know that until last year you couldn’t add native videos on Facebook? But surprisingly, views on text-only posts have increased 1,069 percent since the network added video, found an AgroPulse content scientist.

Don’t write video off just yet, though. Instead, be sure to add captions to your video to overcome that hurdle.

4. Better groups

Like Facebook, LinkedIn has been emphasizing Groups, which means you can now access Groups on the LinkedIn website and app (no more standalone Groups app). Plus, you can post multimedia content in Groups, and you’ll get a notification if someone replies to you.
