Ask anyone what they want to eat, then watch the sweat drip as they rack their brain for ideas. It's not that we don't like eating, it's that it requires making a quick decision — one that satisfies all involved. No pressure, right?

With the launch of Facebook's new food-ordering service, you'll have Friday night's meal ordered and delivered before the person answers, "I don't know. What do you want to eat?"

It doesn't have to be complicated ...

Facebook realized ordering food was becoming convoluted. Consumers use the internet to search for food, but are inundated with different platforms to execute the order. Should they go directly to the restaurant's site? What about ordering from delivery apps?

It's probably been posted at least 100 times on neighborhood group pages, "What restaurants deliver here?" Facebook streamlines this process and creates instant mealtime heroes.

"Today, we're taking the time out of finding what you want to eat by officially launching the ability to order food for pick-up or delivery, directly on Facebook. People already go to Facebook to figure out what to eat by reading about nearby restaurants, and seeing what their friends say about them. So, we're making it even easier," Alex Himel, Facebook’s VP of Local, said in a news release.

Major restaurant chains, delivery services are on board

"But is there anything good on there?" you ask. Absolutely. While options are fantastic, it's even better when they're all in one place.

To create the perfect food-ordering scenario, Facebook combined services of big players like Jack in the Box, Five Guys, Papa John's and Panera, as well as delivery services from popular apps like Delivery.com, DoorDash, ChowNow and Olo. Large chains aren't the only options, however.

"From local spots to national chains, Facebook connects you with old favorites and new discoveries in just a few taps. You can even check out what your friends have to say about a restaurant before you order your food," Himel said.

How do you order?

Under the Explore menu, there's an Order Food section. Restaurants are listed for browsing here, and options for pick-up or delivery are offered. If the restaurant delivers, they'll list available delivery services, like DoorDash or Delivery.com. Users can order with existing logins or easily sign up, all within the Facebook app.

This endeavor is an addition to Facebook's e-commerce evolution. It's available to users everywhere in the United States and is accessible through iOS, Android and desktop.
